My name is Néstor Rodan.
I’m a photographer.

My path started over two decades ago behind a television camera. That’s where I discovered what still drives me today: the power of an image to carry emotion and meaning through light, framing and timing. Since then I haven’t stopped looking for stories worth telling, and the journey has only grown.

That search now has a name: Zero Expeditions.

It’s the project where I’ve put everything I’ve learned in the field. Photography expeditions to extreme and extraordinary places, built for people who aren’t looking for a destination — they’re looking for a different way of seeing the world.

Not tourism. Going with purpose.

Small groups, respect for the place and the people who call it home, and the certainty that every expedition is born from real experience: by the light, by the location, by the group that shares it.

I work in extreme cold, at altitude, in deserts and remote coastlines. Places where you have to earn the shot.

I care as much about what happens before you press the shutter as I do about composition. The detail and the context. The light and what lies underneath it.

As a guide, my work isn’t just technical. It’s helping you see what you’re looking at.

I’m a Canon Pro Master in Spain and work with several leading brands in the industry — always from direct, hands-on experience in the field. As part of my ongoing involvement in photography, I sit on the international jury of several competitions, including the Black & White Photo Awards, the Nature Photo Awards and The Photo Week.

The drone is one of my main tools: a way to explore new perspectives, expand the visual language and show the world from angles almost no one gets to see. That aerial view is also a core part of the technical work I carry out for National Parks, where precision, sensitivity and a deep knowledge of the environment are essential.

Among my publications is a book on Timanfaya National Park — a visual immersion into one of Spain’s most breathtaking volcanic landscapes.

Over the years I’ve learned that making great photos is no longer the point. What matters is being there, living the moment, and helping the people who travel with me make that click — the one we’re all chasing — at exactly the right instant. That’s the real reward now.

Behind everything there’s a single philosophy: authenticity, respect for nature, and the value of what you live through the lens. It’s what shapes every image and, above all, Zero Expeditions.

I shoot with Canon full-frame cameras — two EOS R5 Mark II bodies that handle every situation I throw at them, from fast action to high-detail landscapes.

For lenses I stay with fast glass, f/2.8 or wider. My regular lineup is the Canon RF 15-35mm, RF 24-70mm and RF 70-200mm, plus primes like the RF 35mm and RF 100mm, and the RF 100-500mm when I need the reach.

In the air I fly the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, whose one-inch sensor delivers image quality in a different league from more compact drones.

For storage I’ve trusted SanDisk for years. Their Extreme series cards, external SSDs and the new CFexpress have been with me through all kinds of conditions without a single issue. In this work, that peace of mind is worth everything.
